As I set out to write the Blakk Mass Basement my mindset was to have stumbled upon a room where someone secretly had been performing a black mass or a religion made up on the spot. I wanted the music to be kind of off, in the sense that in the context of just hearing it, it would just be weird. But in the context of hearing it in a room, a basement, with blood on the floor, with dark walls filled with scratches, with mixed religious symbols everywhere it would be kind of unsettling. I often just did everything in one take for each part of the songs. All lyrics/sounds are improvised and recorded in one take from whatever I was feeling when listening to the noises and rhythms. Thanks for being a person who dares to step outside of the broad mainstream and dwell down here in the gutter with all of us others that just lay here looking at the stars. Our art is death, and someday we will all be our own masterpieces.
